Yahoo Groups took their archives offline on Dec. 17, 2019
We archived the groups up to the last minute and they are now final and downloadable.
Yahoo Groups (previously known as Onelist or eGroups) have been building online communities since the 1990s, long before there was Facebook, Twitter or other such social media. There are apparently about 10 million groups that all had their archives deleted on December 17, 2019.
Those groups contain many years of important discussions and good advice that could be lost forever, now that Yahoo has removed their archives. We therefore, started this project to archive as many health-related Yahoo Groups as possible in a way that can be easily downloaded and read at home on your Windows PC, forever. We finance this service entirely through a nominal charge (from $2.99) to download the group archives incl. software and instructions.
While some groups have moved to other platforms (with or without their archives), there are many groups that have otherwise simply disappeared after Yahoo removed the archives. Where possible, we also tell you where these groups have moved to.
The following list shows the Yahoo Groups we have archived and made available for download on this website. We have completed the downloading of these groups.
Please tell all your friends about this website that may also need a backup of any of these groups.
The demo contains the full archives of the GroupManagersForum and yahoo_group_of_groups YahooGroups so that you can fully test our archive system on your Windows Computer free of charge.
Very Important news as to what has happened to ALL Yahoo Groups.
Yahoo Groups have now removed the archives from public view.
The following features were permanently deleted on December 17, 2019
- Files
- Polls
- Links
- Photos
- Folders
- Calendar
- Database
- Attachments
- Conversations
- Email Updates
- Message Digest
- Message History
Although it is still possible to send out messages to other members after December 17, there are no longer any online archives at all. It is now no more than an email redirection service. This seriously reduces the usability of the groups as it is no longer possible to read the previous messages online.
We have already archived all the messages, attachments, files, photos and links from the related Yahoo Groups listed above
The offline archive used here, makes use of a special Windows software for reading the archives even more easily than on Yahoo Groups. The software is provided free with every group archive ordered from us and can be used as a comfortable means of searching and viewing the existing posts.
You can download and start using the archive files now.
So offline archiving of those groups has been performed, but how about preserving the YahooGroups as active discussion groups?
We discuss the options on our special page for Groups Owners.
In Summary:
- All Yahoogroups have had their messages and file storage removed on December 17, 2019.
- We have archived the above groups for offline use and they are now available for download.
- The Rife Forum welcomes new members and have a wide range of sections for freely discussing health-related topics: www.rifeforum.com
