The Minutus Group has been restored at Forums.Group
Unfortunately, the decision to transfer the minutus Yahoo Group to groups.io was not approved before it was too late, in fact they had not even started the process when Yahoo deleted the archives on December 17, 2019. The downloadable version on this website was all that was left of their rich archives.
A groups.io subgroup was created and some messages have been posted there and an invite was sent to all members of the Yahoo Group. However, only 109 members actually joined the group on groups.io leaving the group split between the Yahoo Group and groups.io.
Some members of the group objected to the groups.io policy to delete groups that discuss the merits of vaccinations. This led to demands to find an alternative home for Minutus without these limitations. This was the start of the idea to build a new free-speech platform with the capability to restore the group's full archives on a phpBB Forum: Forums.Group was born and has been working hard to establish a means of restoring lost YahooGroups to their platform. That goal has now been completed and their new forum has now gone online.
As a phpBB forum based system does not have the capability to send out new posts via email or allow members to post new messages via email, a number of members were unhappy with having to go to the website, or use the TapaTalk app, in order to read and post messages. They therefore continued to use the YahooGroup and the Minutus group at groups.io to continue their discussions. A few members did try out the forum and reported back how easy it was to use, but for others it was a matter of principle that reading new messages and posting had to be done via email.
In answer to this, an additional extension was added to at least send out new posts via email, but there are unfortunately no ready-made extensions available that make it possible to post via email - the infrastructure to be able to convert incoming posts into forum messages simply does not exist. Enquiries were made and an existing script written for a ticketing system for vBulletin, a different forum system, was found and the programmer is prepared to adapt this script for the forums.group platform. It will take some time to implement and then it is ready, that feature will also be added to the minutus forum as a premium option.

The Minutus Forum has now opened for business. The YahooGroup archives have been restored incl. the posts that were made up to its opening on a new phpBB forum, all members of the YahooGroup have been added to the forum and the YahooGroup is now being used to send a daily digest of the new posts on the forum and each new post is being sent out via email to the Minutus group on groups.io. Posting via email is not possible until this new script has been adapted and installed. Posting is of course already possible on the forum, itself.

Finance next year's Premium Forum for the Minutus Forum
There is one disadvantage to groups.io and that is their stance on banning discussions on vaccinations. We have been told that any such discussions will lead to the group being deleted. While this topic is not the purpose of this group, there have been some discussions on this topic in the past and future discussions have been banned as long as the group remains on groups.io
By moving the group to the new Minutus Forum, a phpBB forum-based system on a webserver based in Germany, it was possible to import the previous message archives and all the members, which has reunited the entire group once again in one place. Posting is only possible online or via an app, but this is easy to get used to and it makes it much easier to find and read past discussions. There are now several categories to better sort the discussions. Joining the forum is for members free of charge and the running costs can be met through donations or via advertising on the forum. This solution is compatible with all computers and smartphones, etc.
One major advantage is that there will be no censorship of any kind and the forum members are free to discuss anything they want. The disadvantages are that you have to post messages online instead of via email (most people prefer this, once they get used to it) and the moderators have a little more maintenance work to keep the forum working.
